Development editing in progress. We develop any text.

We can edit most professional documents, including many of a formal or technical nature. (The only exceptions are highly technical documents in the fields of science, technology, engineering, higher mathematics, medicine or veterinary science.

Writing for professional, statutory and regulatory bodies (PSRBs)

Professional, statutory and regulatory bodies, as well as the higher education sector, charitable sector and local government, frequently need to publish documents providing public information. These can be fairly technical in nature and may be in the form of formal reports, policy briefings or executive summaries of longer documents.

Our development editor has extensive experience of publications for and about the UK higher education sector and also the project management sector – skills that are also readily transferable to developing other professional reports and briefings.

Development editing example: higher education report

Questions about academic standards at London campuses of UK universities led the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) to conduct a special review and report on its findings. Our development editor, then an employee at QAA, edited this report. Intended to inform government policy, it was seen by Universities Minister Jo Johnson and Secretary of State Greg Clark.

Development editing example: higher education code of practice

The UK Quality Code for Higher Education sets out expected standards for providers of higher education in the UK. Each section is developed by means of working groups, leading to a consultation draft. While employed at QAA, Rachel Beckett development edited the consultation draft for Chapter B3: Learning and Teaching
