Our mission for editing is to be the best development editing service in Gloucestershire and southwest England. In our writing projects (a more crowded market) we also aim for the same high standard of excellence. Our mission for writing is to offer a consistently excellent professional writing service.
Values FIRST
The acronym FIRST sums up the values that underpin what we aim to achieve and offer.
Friendliness and courtesy
Pure Bold aims to be a friendly and helpful service, while remaining professional at all times. We will be courteous in all our dealings. We quite simply believe courtesy is at the heart of civilisation.
Integrity and academic good practice
The written word has a gravity about it that gives people the instinct to trust what they read. This places a responsibility upon professional editors and writers to ensure they observe academic good practice. This includes:
- conducting research honestly to the best of our ability
- providing the source of any quoted text
- refusing to draft documents intended for academic assessments.
Please note that if we receive requests to write essays, dissertations or theses, we will decline them, and may report the incident to the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA). QAA provides more information about academic integrity on its website.
While we will not draft documents to be submitted for academic assessments, we are happy to provide formative feedback on students’ own drafts. This is similar to our development editing service, but will be a light edit with suggestions in comments boxes. This is the kind of formative feedback that an academic tutor might provide.
Reliability and readability, for quality and timing
If we promise to do a job, we can be relied upon to deliver. We will take deadlines seriously and keep in touch if there is any reason for delay. We will pay careful attention to your brief, making every effort to meet expectations as to content, length, tone and style. R is also for ‘readability’ – we will ensure your text communicates the necessary information clearly and engagingly.
Sustainability in resources and behaviours
We are fully aware of the huge challenges of climate change (probably more accurately named ‘global warming’). We avoid unnecessary work journeys. When travelling for business, we will consider alternatives to the car, such as walking, cycling, bus or rail where possible and economically viable.
When procuring items for our professional editing and writing business, we will give careful consideration to ethics and seek environmentally sustainable options wherever suitable and affordable.
Trustworthiness in our dealings
We seek to be fair in quoting a price that reflects our professional knowhow while at the same time giving you good value. We allow a 30-day payment period. If there is a problem with any work we have done, we will fix it before expecting any payment. If you are unhappy at any stage of the editing and writing process, we will aim to resolve things as soon as possible in accordance with our value of friendliness and courtesy.
